Expanding Capacity to Meet Market Demand

With a population surge of more than 4 million new residents over the past decade, Texas has seen skyrocketing demand for housing — and the building materials to support it. One of the largest privately held wood products manufacturers in the U.S., RoyOMartin identified a clear market need: a growing demand for oriented strand board (OSB) panels. With their first facility in Corrigan, Texas, running at full capacity, they set out to add a second OSB line to boost production. And as their trusted partner since 2006, Con-Vey was tapped to deliver.

Our other OSB lines limit our ability to produce eight-foot panels, even though market demand is high. Corrigan Two solves that problem while also downsizing the stack-off and refeed system — streamlining the process and maximizing production.

Solution

Precision Engineering for Seamless Production

Thanks to our deep familiarity with RoyOMartin’s operations, we were able to adapt designs from previous projects to ensure a seamless integration. We engineered the system to be compatible with spare parts from the original finishing line — cutting costs and simplifying maintenance in the process. Despite pandemic-related disruptions, Con-Vey ensured the equipment was ready ahead of schedule, even running test products through the system before other parts of the line were completed.

We started this project right in the middle of COVID supply chain issues, but we didn’t have to take any market-related downtime. Con-Vey delivered on time. We had all the finishing end equipment installed before the forming or drying area were even ready.

A Milestone in OSB Manufacturing

The addition of the second OSB line at Corrigan has transformed the facility into the largest OSB manufacturing operation in North America, producing 650 million square feet of panels annually. Combined with the original line, the Corrigan facility now delivers 1.4 billion square feet of OSB each year — helping RoyOMartin meet growing market demands without compromising quality or efficiency.

We’ve built a relationship with Con-Vey over the years. They’re way more open to ideas generated from the end users. I’ve had problems in the past with engineers that are bullheaded about making changes to improve our operation. Con-Vey isn’t like that; they know we know how to operate it. And if something is off, we’ll collaborate on the solution.
